Hey Guys!
Hope your well?
Since we have had the puppies we haven't been on a date night, just as we wanted to be sure they were safe to be left alone at night (Don't let the cute faces fool you they can be little monsters some times!)
Well this Friday, Gareth returned home with a beautiful bouquet of flowers which made it a perfect start to a great bank holiday weekend!
Earlier in the week I had let him know that we would be going to a restaurant to eat before we went and watched the new Avengers movie at the local cinema - and when I showed him the menu he was right on side!
The Royal George in Birdlip has a great menu with amazing choices of food and desert (Yes, I did look at the desert menu first.. Its a bad habit!)
The Royal George is set in 26 acres of land with amazing views of the Cotswold's countryside,
Honestly it is so beautiful (I am a doughnut and forgot to take photos, but I have inserted a photo from a few weeks ago just down the road.. Oops Blogger Fail!)
This friendly hotel also has 34 bedrooms (and also has dog friendly rooms!)
Which I can only imagine are beautiful based on the views and the décor through out the restaurant and bar.
When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely waitress who showed us to our window seats, which made my blogger heart just swoon!
After looking at the menu online we were pretty sure of what we wanted to order..
Although Gareth ended up being indecisive in the end (makes a change from me..)
I Chose Confit Of Duck Leg
"With a cherry & red wine sauce, sea-salted-&-thyme-sautéed potatoes, sugarsnap peas, Chantenay carrots and peas"
SO YUMMY!
Gareth Chose Roasted Pork Belly
"With a black treacle & Bourbon glaze, served on mash, with sugarsnap peas, Chantenay carrots and peas"
And said it was the best pork belly he has ever eaten - and pork belly is his usual order if it is on the menu!
We were really stuffed after our very generous servings of our mains but once the waitress showed us the desert menu it went without saying that the options pulled us in!
If you can't eat a scrumptious desert on a bank holiday when can you eh?
I went for the Gingerbread, Pear and Caramel Crumble Tart With maple & walnut ice cream.
It was different from any other desert I have ever eaten before and it was so good - for sure will be my go to next time we pay The Royal George a visit !
Gareth went for the classic that is Hot Apple Pie with Custard.
It kept him quite for longer than 2 minute's - so compliments to the chef !
He really enjoyed it and said the portion was just right, I did get food envy with this desert if I am being honest, can't beat a classic can you?
After we finished our drinks we decided it was time to make a steady drive to the cinema, but it was very reluctantly as the restaurant was so relaxing and had a lovely feel about it.
We honestly can't wait to go back, The Food was Amazing, The staff / service where without fault and the whole scene it set was just beautiful!
So I can highly recommend both The Royal George Hotel & the new Avengers movie (it was sooo good, beat the first by a mile!)
The Royal George is a Beautiful place to eat while still being extremely affordable - Under £30 For The Whole meal inc Drinks ! (Would've been £9.48 more but the lovely staff gave us free deserts with our mains, Thank You!)
What have you been up to so far this bank holiday weekend?
Do you have a favourite place to go eat?
Stay Safe & Speak Soon
